A Farm Story with an Agribusiness Twist
Every great agri-business begins with a dream, and sometimes, with passion. Tassells Farm Limited (TFL) was not born in boardrooms or offices but in the hearts of two people deeply connected to Kenyan homeland.
In 2005, Muturi Njoroge and Susan Nyambura, (renown as Sue & Moses) both from farming families in Central Kenya, crossed paths with a shared passion for agriculture. What started as a budding relationship quickly grew into a partnership rooted in more than passion — it was a union of vision, resilience, and a belief that farming could be reimagined.
By 2006, Muturi and Susan were each running their own small scale dairy productions, with cattle, feed, and small-scale milk production. Their approaches differed, but their dreams aligned. When they married in 2010, they merged their ventures, officially registering Tassells Enterprises. What began as a family effort soon blossomed into a mission: to challenge outdated practices and prove that farming could be modern, profitable, and sustainable.
The Resilience
Like all stories, the journey wasn’t without challenges. And don’t think for a moment, that they haven’t felt the heat, the hurt…so much that the road was paved with financial hurdles, social skepticism, unpredictable market shifts, and even global crises such as pandemics. The staff management, shifting policies, and occasional “acts of God” — from droughts to floods — added to the weight. In their own words ‘sometimes almost out of business’ and so it was not easy but worthy.
But the couple treated every challenge consciously as an elevator, a realization of wisdom passed down through generations in that, derails are part of progress. Other than quitting from complications they kept moving —holding to each other and to their vision.

Breaking New Ground
By 2015, they had established a modern farm in Ruiru, defying odds and reshaping what dairy farming could look like. While many were still content with traditional methods, Tassells dared to innovate as follows:
Kenya’s first Milk Vending Machine, making safe, affordable milk accessible to thousands.
Real fruit yogurt and ESL milk, diversifying consumer choices.
Embryo transfer breeding technology, proving that cutting-edge science could thrive in African agribusiness.
Behind these innovations was relentless training in animal welfare, cow comfort, feed production, staff skills, and modern dairy technologies.
TFL replaces Susan and Muturi
By late 2015, business name transformed into Tassells Farm Limited, officially stepping into its destiny with localized research in East Africa’s dairy industry. The farm expanded its focus to dairy cattle (local & Exotic), goats, sheep, donkeys and even East African camels, while branching into production, marketing, and consultancy.
Along the way, TFL built one of the most extensive livestock databases locally, provided insights which continue to empower farmers and researchers. Strategic partnerships with global institutions strengthened its position, proving that a once-small family dream could inspire continental change.
Farming For Legacy
Today, TFL is more than a business; it is a legacy in the making. The upcoming project at the heart of extensive Yatta plateau is no doubt a Flagship agro-industrial farm. It represents the TFL’s boldest vision. Designed as a hub of renewable energy, climate-smart practices, agri-tourism, sports centre, hospital, Airport, research, agro-processing and farmer training, it promises to showcase African dairy farming at world-class standard.
This is not subsistence agriculture — it’s about empowering communities, enhancing food security, and proving that innovation and sustainability can grow from the soils of Africa.
